Unhappy at Work? Career Coaching Can Help!

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

A stranger you just met at a party asks, “What do you do for a living?” How do you feel when you reply? Proud? Excited? Sad? Annoyed? Indifferent? Apologetic? Something else?

For most of us work has much greater meaning than just how we get the bills paid. What we do for a living speaks to who we are. Many of us spend more of our waking hours on the job with co-workers than we do with our families! Work may be central to our sense of purpose, shape our identity, and influence how we live our daily lives. Yet we may not love what we do, we might be bored, or even worse, dread doing our jobs!

Perhaps making some changes in your current work situation will meet your needs. New strategies to improve work relationships, or routines that can improve the work climate could help. Or maybe what you really want is to get a new job or even to enter a whole new career field! If you know you need to make a change in your work but can’t figure out what that change should be or how to put it into action, career coaching can help you. Together we will assess your current situation, review your hopes and dreams, define your values around work, and then determine the steps you need to take toward a healthier, happier, more rewarding work life.

To accomplish this we will employ tools similar to those you may have used on the job for setting your organization’s mission, vision and strategic plan to create your own personal mission, vision and plan for your work life. I will share the experience and expertise I gained from my own career and journey to find meaningful work. If you’d like to learn more about my work history I invite you to visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/cassiehbarber/.
