Why Work with a Retirement Coach?

I help people over age 50 successfully navigate important life, career, and relationship transitions as they work toward making the next chapter of their lives the best yet!

Life changes - whether positive or negative - can throw us for a loop! Approaching and entering retirement presents myriad choices and challenges that most of us haven't given much thought to. Until the year prior to my own retirement, the only preparation I made was to contribute to a retirement account on autopilot. Surprise! There was so much more to think about, do, and prepare for than that!

Challenges and Opportunities in this phase of life may include:

  • Starting a 2nd or 3rd career

  • Stopping work altogether - hooray or horrifying?

  • Wondering who you are without your job title

  • Loss of a spouse through divorce or death

  • Being caught in the "sandwich generation"

  • Loneliness/Isolation

  • Downsizing

  • Relocating

  • Dating (Again!)

  • Dreaming...

My coaching practice uses a positive psychology lens to take stock of your situation and focus on your personal strengths. As we work together you will gain clarity, let go of fear, make a plan and take action with confidence to create the life you've always dreamed of.

Why Coaching Might Be Just What You Need

Retirement is a major life transition. And fortunately, it is one you can plan for! Even though the majority of us look forward to retirement and later life, making this transition can be daunting and may leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, scared, or anxious.

If you’ve never experienced coaching before, you may discover a whole new approach for dealing with life's ups and downs.

Many of us have spent our very busy lives being the caregiver, the supporter, the provider for others. Retirement suddenly gives us the time and space to care, support and provide for ourselves - something you may not know how to do. Working with a coach can help you figure out how to handle all this freedom you waited so long for and worked so hard to earn.

Together we will carve out the time and space you need to cut through the noise, go deep, and focus on your needs and desires.

We can all use a hand sorting out our stuff sometimes. As your coach and personal advocate I will be unbiased and firmly in your corner. I will provide structure, keep you focused, help you dig deep to find your hidden truth, and hold you accountable for achieving the goals you will set for yourself. I will not judge you or tell you what to do. But I will help you figure out what you truly want to be, do, and have in your later life.

I understand that you are the best expert about your own life and I'm here to help you tap into that expertise!

Why Coaching May Not Be What You Need Right Now

I partner with functional adults who are seeking growth and change in themselves and in their lives. This process requires a willingness to be vulnerable and to explore one’s own strengths and weaknesses along with an investment of time, money, and hard work. I will push you out of your comfort zone, challenge your perceived limitations, and explore the possibilities with you! Together we will focus on what you want to accomplish right now and exactly what you will do to get there. If this sounds like work you aren’t quite ready to take on perhaps coaching isn’t right for you now.

Coaching is not psychotherapy or counseling. I do not diagnose or treat mental illness or disorders. If you are struggling with deep depression, active addiction, or thoughts of suicide, I urge you to reach out to a licensed mental health professional immediately. If you have insurance, please get help from a professional in your network. You can also contact your local mental health association/agency to explore available resources or reach out to the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) hotline 800-950-NAMI or text "NAMI" to 741741.

What Makes AdvoCassie Coaching Different?

I do! I bring a lifetime of personal and professional experience and expertise to the coaching process. And I'm currently enjoying my own retirement in part by becoming a life coach. As your personal advocate and coach I will make every effort to get to know you, your individual style, your situation, and work alongside you to understand exactly what it is you want to accomplish - then support you while you do it. I have access to a variety of excellent programs, tools and assessments, which I will mix and match to help us meet your coaching goals. We won't be locked in to any single approach - one size does not fit all. And you decide how much time, energy and money you want to invest in your coaching experience - not me. I invite you to click on the next page to learn more about me and then let's talk about you!

P.S. If what you see on this site doesn’t resonate with you, please keep looking for the support that is right for you. There are many helping professionals for you to choose from, each with their own unique gifts.

I don't walk on eggshells anymore

"I had never tried coaching and was uncertain about it but I needed to talk with someone outside my family. Working with Cassie I made the decision to work on myself and start dreaming again! Thanks to coaching, I don’t walk on eggshells anymore and I recognize my own worth and all I have accomplished in my life. This work has been a pleasure and it felt good to let some hard things out."
